Photo Retouching Exercise

In preparation for the work in London, I've taken (and twice retouched) a photo of a little friend I'm bringing with me. He'll appear in most if not all of the pictures I post here over the next three weeks. Can you guess his name?

Here's a hint: he doesn't like having a balloon as a tail...

The book next to him is one of our textbooks. I'm including it because it's a must-read for any children's book lover traveling to Great Britain. Check it out!

Cheers!

Welcome

"All children, except one, grow up."
from Peter Pan, by J. M. Barrie

Peter Pan has always captivated me as a character--so confident and full of adventurous spirit, determined never to grow up. When I was very young, I had a record of the musical production starring Mary Martin, and the music swept me away to a wondrous place full of crocodiles, pirates, endless days, and ticking time.

For three glorious weeks this July, I will be living in London and learning about digital and social media tools at the Florida State University London Study Centre, with a focus on one of my favorite things in the whole wide world--children's books!

I will explore locations related to Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Paddington, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, A Secret Garden, A Little Princess, 101 Dalmatians, and others. I hope my pictures, videos, and podcasts will bring this journey to life, infused with the sights and sounds of this enchanting city.

So sprinkle yourself with fairy dust and come away with me to this new Neverland, "second to the right, and straight on till morning!"
