A Study in Light and Shadow

"There was another light in the room now, a thousand times brighter than the night-lights, and in the time we have taken to say this, it had been in all the drawers in the nursery, looking for Peter's shadow, rummaged the wardrobe and turned every pocket inside out."
from Peter Pan, by J. M. Barrie

I visited the British museum today, wanting to get a head start on a photo assignment I'll share with you in a few days. Meanwhile, I found myself captivated by the play of light and shadow in the various rooms I explored. We finally had sunshine today, after two days of mist and showers, and the sun streamed in through the glass-ceilinged main hall. The effect was glorious. The hall lit up with a cheery glow, and people turned their faces to the sky.

I decided to focus on the shadow play on the walls and the floor, as the diamond-shaped scaffolding cast intriguing lines and shapes across the light marble. What shadows do you notice in your everyday life?
